(W)ho-ots mon!

Okay, that was a very feeble pun, sorry. The Scotsman has an article on the new season of Doctor Who and an interview with the new Doc, Scottish actor David Tennant (you may need to subscribe - free - to read the article). Playing up the Scottish angle continues with the journalists at a junket in Glasgow being shown the episode Tooth and Claw, which features werewolves in 19th century Scotland, Queen Victoria and the Doctor essaying a Scottish accent (memories of Tom Baker swapping his floppy hat and rainbow scarf for a Glengarry and a tartan long scarf in the 70s Terror of the Zygons story set around Loch Ness spring to mind). Alas, although set in Scotland the episode was not actually filmed here for some reason.

When some journalists contended that this episode may be too scary for some younger viewers Tennant defended the story, pointing out that Doctor Who has always offered a little scare to send younger fans scuttling behind the sofa:

"..it's still responsibly done. It's a fantasy environment and children understand that too. Part of growing up is being scared. That's what all Doctors have done since 1963. I mean, there's no blood. I think it was just far enough."
