Paradise Lost

The BBC picks up a story via Variety that John Milton's poem Paradise Lost is to get the feature film treatment, with Scott Derrickson down to direct and Legendary Pictures (who are behind the new Superman Returns film) producing. No details have emerged yet as to cast or shooting schedule. Coming soon Dante from Clerks is Dante in the Divine Comedy... Okay, made that one up, but you never know!

As an interesting sidebar this news comes as that excellent scribe Mike Carey has a new Hellblazer graphic novel coming out, All His Engines, which lifts the titles from Milton:

"Nor aught availed him now

To have built in heav'n high tow'rs; nor did he scape
By all his engines, but was headlong sent
With his industrious crew to build in hell."

You see, this blog is even educational!

Isn't it crazy that they are making this into a movie??? I posted today about this including who I would guess would be Satan, although obviously who knows who will get this crazy role!
