Crivens!

A small bit of comics history this week as Scottish newspaper strips Oor Wullie and The Broons both make it to their 70th birthdays. Seven decades on and both still appear every week in the Sunday Post - not my cup of tea, but incredibly popular with generations of Scots, young and old alike while publishers DC Thomson have been the starting ground for many of Brit comics top talents. Lord of the Rings star and professional Scot Billy Boyd presents a programme on Oor Wullie tonight on BBC1 Scotland at 9.30pm.
