Animation Anniversary

Did you know that movie animation is almost 100 years old? I didn't. I knew that trick photography, such as Melies' Voyage Dans La Lune and Winsor McCay's Gertie the Dinosaur dated back to the early parts of the 20th century, but I knew nothing about this. Which is why The Hollywood Animation Archive Project Blog is making a point of honouring J Stuart Blackton, who in April 1906 created cartoon images which moved... The blog even has a link to the early cartoon film form the Library of Congress.
