Aardman Annie Success!

The 33rd annual Annie Awards from the International Animation Film Society of Hollywood have been announced with British traditional animators, our own beloved Aardman having much reason to smile after the disaster of their storeroom fire last year: they not only won, they swept the boards. Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were Rabbit took the award in multiple categories for the ‘animation Oscars’:

The movie earned best animated picture honours, along with kudos for animated effects (Jason Wen); character animation (Claire Billett); music in an animated feature production (Julian Nott); character design in an animated feature production (creator Nick Park); directing in an animated feature production (Park, Steve Box); production design in an animated feature production (Phil Lewis); storyboarding in an animated feature production (Bob Persichetti); voice acting in an animated feature production (Peter Sallis, who voices Wallace); and writing in an animated feature production (Box, Park, Bob Baker and Mark Burton).”

Among the other winners were Star Wars: Clone Wars II Chapters 21-25 - Cartoon Network Studios for Best Animated Television Production, Ultimate Spider-Man in Best Animated Video Game, Peter Shin - Family Guy “North by North Quahog” in the Directing in an Animated Television Production category and Seth MacFarlane – Voice of Stewie - Family Guy “Brian the Bachelor” for Voice Acting in an Animated Television Production. Some of our staff’s favourite animated features doing very well there, I’m pleased to see and what a thundering success for Nick Park and the Aardman gang on their first Wallace and Gromit feature outing - let's see if it translates into Oscar success now.
