Graphic novels for teens
The American Library Association's site is running a compliation of Great Graphic Novels for the Young Adult Library Services Association looking at good graphic novels for young adults (what the book trade calls the 12 years old through teenage market). So far there has been a quite varied list, including Black Hole by Charles Burns, Plastic Man: Rubber Bandits by Kyle Baker, the Quitter by Harv Pekar and Identity Crisis by Brad Meltzer. I think this is a great idea - I've certainly known school librarians who have used graphic novels as another tool to interest younger readers in books with some success.
