Edinburgh SF Book Group December Meeting
The December meeting of the Edinburgh SF Book Group will take place on Thursday December the 8th at 6pm in Henderson's on Hanover Street; all are welcome to come along and enjoy a good discussion of a fine book. Following November's classic reading with Alfred Bester's (in my opinion) brilliant The Demolished Man (was it really written over 50 years ago?) we come right back to the present with one of the (again in my humble opinion) finest of our new wave of fantasty writers (hey, if Moorcock and Mieville say it is good, you know you are on to something): Jeff VanderMeer with his collection City of Saints and Madmen, which was one of the very first books to feature in the first SF Book Picks section of the FPI catalogue.
Jeff has a full length novel of Ambergris, Shriek: an Afterword, due out in the New Year in the UK and we will try and bring you more details on that soon. He has just announced some very exciting plans to make a short movie based around Shriek and featuring music from one of his favourite bands Church over on his blog at VanderWorld.
