Literary fun

Author Jeff VanderMeer drops a line to the FPI Blogging Batcave to tell us he's started a little literary competition on his blog. Those of you who have read City of Saints and Madmen will not be surprised to discover it is a little, well, different...

Each year a fun literary competition is run, called the Bulwer-Lytton Fiction contest (the Victorian gent of "it was a dark and stormy night" fame) and involves writing the worst opening lines of an imaginary novel. Jeff, doubtless prodded by the Evil Monkey, has commenced a similar competition but for the worst possible closing lines of a novel.

Yesterday evening there were only a few entries but this morning there are many and its still growing, oozing through the cracks of decency and reality like a Lovecraftian monster now he's opened the door. Its fun, so have a look, but be warned, some of it is a little naughty and may offend virtuous souls and elderly nuns (excepting the gun-slinging nuns in our Manga books of course).
