Trekking at the Edinburgh Festival

The award-winning actress and financial consultant (now there’s a mix!) Bari Hochwald, familiar to SF fans for several appearances in a variety of Star Trek shows, has told FPI that she is bringing her very own show to this year’s Edinburgh Festival. Yes, August is almost on us and that means the world’s largest set of artistic festivals will be hitting Edinburgh – the Fringe, Festival, Jazz and Blues Festival, Film Festival and Book Festival. It’s a busy old town, I can tell you! You may need to take a break from the shows and come browse in our centrally-located store!

We’ve already mentioned that this year’s Edinburgh International Film Festival has a number of treats for the SF and horror fans (Romero’s Land of the Dead, Whedon’s Serenity, Gaiman and McKean’s MirrorMask and others). Now the Fringe also offers us the delights of Star Trek alumni (among many other noteable appearances) Bari bringing her own show Net Worth to town.

The multi-talented Bari has written and will be performing Net Worth at Greyfriar’s Studio 2 (Venue 28 in the Fringe guide). Full details can be found on the Harwyn Theatre Company website for Net Worth. The Fringe is now so vast it can be a Herculean task to pick out what shows you want to see – well, here we are making it a bit easier for you by pointing out an excellent piece of Festival theatre! I caught Jerry Hardin’s (Deep Throat in the X-Files) one-man An Evening With Mark Twain a few years back at the Fringe, where he reprised his Next Generation Trek appearance as the erstwhile writer and it was fabulous, so this is something to look forward too.

We’re also delighted to announce that she has graciously agreed to take some time out from performing at the world’s biggest arts festival to come along to the Edinburgh branch of Forbidden Planet International to meet fans and to do a signing for us. Bari will be appearing in the Edinburgh FPI on Monday 15th of August from 3 to 4pm, so please do come down to see her at 40-41 Southbridge Street (only moments from the historic Royal Mile and the Royal Museum, so you visitors come on down too!).
