Movie debut at Worldcon

The Worldcon organisers have just issued an excititing bit of news in their latest press release: the UK debut of Howl's Moving Castle will be held at Interaction, the 63rd Worldcon being held in Glasgow this August (the UK release isn't until a month later). The movie follows a young girl cursed to look like a ninety year-old, who escapes to the eponymous castle seeking a cure.

I'm personally very excited by this; Howl's Moving Castle is based upon a novel by the gifted Diana Wynne Jones and comes to us from the famed Studio Ghibli. Ghibli is, of course, home to the remarkable artist and animator Hayao Miyazaki who has brought us Princess Mononoke, Nausicca Valley of the Wind and the Oscar winning visual delight of Spirited Away. It's a tremendous coup for the Worldcon folks and a real treat for the guests. From past experience I'm sure we can look forward to astonishingly gorgeous artwork and an enchanting world in which to become immersed.
