Honourable mention

My colleague Jim points out with pleasure that the Glasgow branch of Forbidden Planet International was singled out in a recent entry in the Basement Tapes over at the well-respected Comic Book Resources site. Matt Fraction and Joe Casey are discussing the recent Bristol comics expo and the UK scene when Casey informs his readers about a trip to a certain rather good comics and SF store in Glasgow:

"I will say this, I visited a store in Glasgow, one of the famous Forbidden Planet chain of stores, and I was blown away. It was just a fantastic store, on par with a store like Meltdown here in L.A. It was definitely a comicbook store and proud of it, but it was quite high end and I was just really impressed. And, in relation to your question, it was really at this store that I realized that the idea of "American" comics can simply blend into the greater global picture. Unlike here, which will unfortunately always be US-centric (manga notwithstanding... but we are talking about the Direct Market here)."

Oh, our blushes!!! Still, it is always nice to be appreciated and epsecially by our peers who realise that a lot of attention and love goes into our work (well, we do read the same books and comics that we're selling; we're fans as well as retailers). A super Well Done to all the crew at FPI Glasgow in Buchanan Street and thanks for the kind words to Joe and Matt.
