Quatermass

This Saturday the digital channel BBC Four is going to attempt to re-create one of the seminal tales of British SF, the Quatermass Experiment, widely held to be the first ever British TV SF. Created by Nigel Kneale, a TV writer-producer far ahead of his time, Quatermass is justifiably celebrated as one of the best pieces of SF from that period. Alas the original 1953 version is long lost from the BBC archives. Saturday's experiment is seeking not only to re-create this classic tale (which had huge appeal far beyond the SF fans) but it is going to be performed live. Yes, live! It is thought it will be the first live TV drama in Britain for twenty years - best of luck to all involved.
