Poetical
One of our more unique writers, Jeff VanderMeer, was appropriately given the gift of unusual writing in the shape of a poem handed to him in the form of a paper aeroplane. It gives a rather nice insight into Jeff’s City of Saints and Madmen which has just been released by Tor Macmillan. It is a collection of novellas based around his city of Ambergris and as Jeff refuses to write a boring old straightforward narrative it is very difficult for folks like me to summarise it online for you (it’s okay, Jeff, I forgive you). Personally though, I think that’s a good thing – suffice to say it is an unusual and often challenging piece of work and is one of our picks for best new books of the season – have a look and see why.
