Interzone

The spring edition of Interzone (a pillar of the UK SF&F scene for many years) has a Q&A with author Ian R MacLeod who brought us the very unusual The Light Ages and his recent House of Storms (beckoning you from our book shelves as we speak, have a browse, go on). To say Ian’s books mixed magical fantasy with the Industrial Revolution it to simplify enormously – they are absorbing works which explore serious themes such as the nature of mass manufacturing, class and society (as well as being excellent novels) - think Dickens meets Hardy meets Marx meets Fantasy.

The current issue (197) also features an interview with award-winning author Colin Greenland and Susanna Clarke - no stranger herself to Dickens and period literature as the author of Jonathan Strange) as well as new short fiction (it's one of the places to see up and coming new writers) and reviews of books, films and games, so have a look when you’re in store.

Inter
zone is now produced by Andy Cox who also brings us The Third Alternative (or TTA if you want to be stylish!) – if you’re a serious SF fan or new to the genre and looking for information, reviews and guidance both journals are highly recommended.
