Darth Tater
Playskool have launched one of the more unusual – not to mention fun – items of Star Wars merchandise ahead of Revenge of the Sith: Darth Tater. What the smeg is a Darth Tater, some will wonder? Well, imagine Mr Potato Head. Now imagine Mr Potato Head had a son who was strong with the force. Then Son of Mr Potato Head’s padwan son is seduced by the Dark Side of the Force (well can you blame him – swap that dinky braided hair piece for cool black leather? Why do the bad guys always have cooler outfits?) and you may have Darth Tater.

The cute-looking Darth Tater comes with a whole bunch of bits’n’pieces that you can slip on and off, including teeth, big googly eyes, cape, helmet and, of course, a lightsabre. And the great thing is that older Star Wars fans can buy it pretending it’s for their kids! But we know who is really playing with it… My esteemed colleague Kevin opines that the Darth Tater is going to be one of the must-buy items for the season.

And while we’re on a general Sith-theme here I can’t help but mention the Darth Vader Voice Changer – the staff here can’t resist pressing the buttons to hear choice pieces of Star Wars dialogue and the trademark Vader heavy breathing (it could change those obscene phone calls forever). But you can actually put on the helmet and use the voice changer to turn your own dulcet tones into Vader voice! More cool Star Wars material as it comes in (and we can tear ourselves away from fiddling with it)…
