If you've been reading the other volumes in this fine series from Titan you'll already be familiar with us heaping praise on both the original comics and the gorgeous hardback (with dustjackets) library editions Titan have been producing. Well, yes, we're still heaping praise on them because these are, frankly, wonderful - in all senses of the word, with an emphasis on 'wonder'.
Modern British comics and their writers and artists simply would not be the same without the influence of the Eagle and Dan Dare, Pilot of the Future. Since many of our UK creators are so influential in the world-wide comic industry it is impossible to underestimate the importance of Frank Hampson's creation.
But these are about far more than either nostalgia for how a bygone era saw the future or admiring an important part of British comics culture. Above all the entire Dan Dare range stands for simply fabulous adventure tales; that's the greatest thing about these, they are wonderful adventure yarns that can be read and enjoyed by adults and kids alike, standing alongside literary classics like Treasure Island, but told here in glowing colours and remarkable graphics.
